Another traditional Swedish dish, <\/strong>this recipe has been part of our family fare for decades. Having been almost entirely raised on tinned tuna (by choice), I have a love of this hearty and nourishing dish. My daughter has recently taken on the mantle and is our Jansson’s queen – cooking it for us whenever we need comfort food. It’s not low on calories, so be warned, but it is delicious and an easy dish to leave to cook itself for an hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ingredients<\/span><\/strong><\/span> <\/td>Method<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
– 2 tins tuna <\/strong>or tinned salmon
– 2 onions<\/strong> (optional)
– 8 large roasting potatoes<\/strong>
– 500ml cooking cream<\/strong>

Equipment<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
– peeler
– pot
– sharp knife
– fork
– ovenproof dish<\/span>

Notes<\/span><\/strong>
* Can be served with green salad and<\/span>
accompanying crunch (like sweetcorn, mange-tout – anything really!)<\/span>

Shopping list<\/strong>
(or equivalents):<\/strong>
– tinned tuna\/salmon
– onion
– cooking cream
– potatoes<\/span><\/td>		1. Grease an oven-proof dish

2. Peel and par-boil the potatoes (for 10 mins) and leave to cool

3. Chop and fry onions until golden (or exclude them on the kids’ side of the dish)

4. Mash the tinned fish

5. Cut the potatoes into slices \u00b1 3mm thick & line the dish with one layer

6. Add the salmon and onions

7. Repeat layering until a final layer of potatoes on top.

7. Pour cream over the top, add salt and pepper

8. Cook uncovered at \u00b1 180 degrees for 1 hour.
